State police at the Hazleton barracks have reported on an incident that happened on Oct. 5 at the Laurel Mall area of Hazle Township, where a 33-year-old woman from Coaldale left two children, ages 5 and 8, in a vehicle while she was inside the T.J. Maxx store.

But police said the Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office “did not want to prosecute the mother for endangering the welfare of children,” according to a news release by the barracks.

Police said they were dispatched at 6:09 p.m. on the above date in regards to two juvenile children left inside a locked and running 2005 Honda Odyssey. Police said the children were removed from the vehicle and taken inside the store after the mother was located.
