Nesquehoning may soon have a new borough secretary/treasurer.
On Wednesday, borough council voted to offer the position to Deborah DelFranco.
According to previous Times News stories, DelFranco serves as Rush Township’s full-time secretary/treasurer.
Council noted that it is still in the process of contract agreement talks regarding DelFranco’s benefits and salary and if the agreement is signed, the borough will officially hire her at November’s meeting.
If she is hired, DelFranco will fill the vacancy, which was created in May when longtime borough secretary/treasurer RoniSue Ahner left to take another position in Lower Towamensing Township.
Following her departure, council initially decided to pursue hiring a borough manager, but after much discussion regarding the upcoming budget, changed course in August to fill the current borough secretary/treasurer position.
