Moravian’s Boyle receives Landmark Conference football award

Moravian University senior running back Nate Boyle has been selected as the Landmark Conference Football Offensive Athlete of the Week.

Boyle, a Tamaqua High School graduate, rushed for 143 yards on 22 attempts, caught one pass for 58 yards, and had touchdown runs of 23 and 22 yards in the Greyhounds’ 44-13 victory at Juniata College on Saturday.

In addition, Boyle, who has also been kicking for the Hounds this fall, was 4-for-4 on extra-points, and he scored a pair of two-point conversions, one receiving and one rushing.

Boyle’s big game on the ground also put him over 2,000 career rushing yards - just the 12th player in program history to reach that mark. Boyle has 2,012 yards on 489 carries in 25 career games. He has 17 rushing and one receiving touchdown in his career to go along with 10 PATs and four two-point conversions for 126 points - ranking him 10th in school history.

“Nate continues to work to improve each week,” said Moravian head coach Jeff Long. “The best part about his game this past week was what he did with the ball not in his hands. He continues to be a physical blocker and finishes every play he’s a part of.”

The Greyhounds, who are 4-3 overall and 3-0 in Landmark Conference action, will hosts No. 11 Susquehanna University this Saturday at 1 p.m. Moravian will also be honoring the 1993 NCAA Division III playoff team on the 30th anniversary at their run to the NCAAs.
