Panther Valley graduate Louis Clouser set a school record and helped his team establish another mark during Stevenson University’s 33-21 comeback win over Misericordia on Saturday.
The 6-0, 176-pound junior running back ran the ball an amazing 43 times for 147 yards and three touchdowns for the Mustangs, who trailed 21-13 midway through the third quarter.
Clouser’s 43 carries easily broke the old Stevenson mark of 32, which was set by KK Smith in 2012. The Mustangs also finished the contest with 57 attempts on the ground, surpassing the previous team high of 53 set against Widener in 2013.
The former Panther standout scored on touchdown runs of three, five and four yards to help the Maryland school improve to 6-1 overall and 5-1 in the MAC. He also caught a two-point conversion to give him 20 total points in the game, which is fourth-best in school history for a single contest.
Clouser, who once had 238 yards rushing in a game at Panther Valley, also caught a team-best three passes for 31 yards.
So far this season, Clouser has run the ball 103 times for 470 yards - an average of 4.6 yards per carry - and seven touchdowns. He has caught six passes for 79 yards.
In a game earlier this season against FDU-Florham, the PV grad collected a season-high 154 yards rushing on 18 attempts.
