The Rotary Club of Slatington and Giant Food Store of Walnutport are collecting monetary or nonperishable goods during the 115th annual Greater Northern Lehigh Halloween Parade.

The parade is at 6 p.m. Oct. 28. The rain date is 6 p.m. Oct. 29.

Spectators are asked for nonperishable goods and monetary donations for the Northern Lehigh Food Bank, said Eric Heiney, president, Rotary Club of Slatington.

Anyone who would like to make donations before the parade, may contact usa1eric@ptd.net.

“It is important to support the NL Food Bank because all donations are helping members of our community,” Heiney said. “We don’t know the struggles of others. Someone each of us knows relies on the food bank for daily necessities.”

Heiney said Rotary members and Giant volunteers will walk in the parade with Giant shopping carts to collect donations.

“Last year, we collected over 500 pounds of food and $600,” he said.
