There figures to be plenty of smashmouth action between the sidelines when Northern Lehigh and Jim Thorpe tussle on the gridiron Friday night.

But, before the game, Northern Lehigh School District will honor those who lay it all on the line every time they answer the call to duty.

First Responders Night will be held at 5 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium.

The event will honor all of the first responders who serve the Northern Lehigh School District, said Bryan Geist, the school’s athletic director.

Geist said tailgate food and drinks will be served by the district’s administration.

“We are going to have a tailgate party for the NL First Responders near the south gate,” Geist said. “We are going to have the chiefs of each department attend the coin toss and make announcements during the game as an appreciation for what they do.”

Geist said that the departments consist of the following:

• Diamond Fire Company of Walnutport

• Slatington Fire Department

• Slatedale Fire Department

• Emerald Fire Department

• Friedens Fire Department

• Slatington Police Department

• Walnutport Police Department

• Neffs Fire Department

• State Police

• Northern Valley Ambulance (NOVA)
