The Tamaqua Area School Board approved the following positions for the 2023-2024 school year at Tuesday’s school board meeting:

• Alicia Rae Fritz, McAdoo, substitute custodian;

• Ashley Endes, Erin Groody, Leah Gehringer, Tyler Skripko, Abby Shumgart, and Denise Drum be given professional status as of Tuesday.

• Laura Faenza, Tamaqua; Cierra Abrachinsky, Mahanoy City; Boyd Shaqfeh, Schuylkill Haven; and Jordan Abdo, Pottsville, substitute guest teachers.

• Rescind motion of Sept. 19 of Frank D’Agostino resignation as assistant elementary principal.

The board approved the following motions:

• To authorize the business manager to participate in the Pennsylvania Education Joint Purchasing Council’s bid process for the 2024-2025 fiscal year, and to participate in the E-Rate Program for the 2024-2025 funding year.

• To purchase two new copiers from Stratix Systems, Inc. using the Costars contract at a cost of $37,739.

• To purchase new doors for the senior high school at a cost of $80,771.93 from Guardian, Inc., using the KPN contract.

• To purchase two used golf carts in the amount of $9,200 from Don’s Golf Carts, Lehighton.

• The fall musical “Tarzan” will be performed Nov. 9-11. It is being performed by the Tamaqua Area Drama Club which will also perform “Sweeney Todd School Edition” from March 21-23. The club will also hold a special outdoor show, Floyd Collins, in the high school courtyard May 15-17.
