Carbon County Commissioners

The Carbon County Commissioners acted on or discussed the following items at their weekly meeting on Thursday:

• Approved a request from the county treasurer to renew a county depository FHLB letter of credit with Mauch Chunk Trust Company as collateral of county deposits as allowed by Act 72. The collateral is updated annually.

The letter of credit is for $15 million and helps the county assure that payments can be made.

• Approved an amendment with Tu-Way Mobile Communications Inc. of Bethlehem to maintain and operate the Northeast Core Phone System and ESInet services for the region. The cost is $64,157.73 and funded under the statewide Interconnectivity Grant.

• Approved a revision to an agreement with Infocon Corporation of Edenburg to host the Tax Claim Bureau’s software system at a monthly fee of $1,129.91; VPN fee of $157.50; and E-Archives fee of $300.

• Announced the anticipated courthouse renovation start date is Nov. 13.

• Resignations: Jacob M. Adamitis of Coaldale, corrections officer, effective Oct. 5; Gina M. Smith of Summit Hill, secretary I, Magisterial District Judge, Jim Thorpe, effective Oct. 6; and Megan N. Schlenner of Jim Thorpe, coordinator of records/indexer, recorder of deeds, effective Oct. 6.

• Prison Board appointment: Chad S. Muffley Sr. of Andreas, corrections officer, effective Oct. 16.

• Change of status: Fernando Vargas of Bowmanstown, from sergeant, corrections, to assistant deputy warden, effective Oct. 16.
