Third man dies from Rt. 22 crash Oct. 5

A third motorist has died as a result of a crash on Oct. 5 on Route 22 East in Bethlehem Township.

The Northampton County Coroner’s Office said Monday that Alan W. Heater, 76, of Bushkill Township died at St. Luke’s Hospital, Anderson Campus on Saturday as a result of injuries in the crash.

Earlier Monday the Lehigh County coroner’s office announced that a Summit Hill man died as a result of injuries suffered in the crash.

The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office said Barry W. Fulton, 58, of Summit Hill died at 7:43 p.m. Sunday at St. Luke’s University Hospital in Bethlehem. State police at the Bethlehem barracks said the incident happened on Route 22 eastbound at the Route 33 interchange and involved two pickup trucks and a passenger vehicle.

Police said Fulton was driving a Chevrolet Silverado southbound on Route 33 northbound and exited the ramp from Route 22 eastbound to Route 33 northbound, traveling in the wrong direction. Police said John Michael Woodburn, a 22-year-old man from Bethlehem, was pronounced dead at the scene. Fulton and another driver, now identified as Heater, were transported to hospitals. Assisting at the scene were Troop M Forensic Services, the Troop M Collision Analysis Reconstruction Specialist Unit, the Northampton County Coroner, Bethlehem Township Fire Department, Nancy Run Fire Department and Fast Lane Towing.
