Walnutport Borough Council on Thursday approved a request from the water authority to build a pump station at the southwest corner of Main and Lehigh streets.

Before the vote, borough engineer Jason Newhard told council that the authority is doing a new sewer pump upgrade.

Newhard said the station will be located right up against the bank at Main Street.

He said the existing building will be staying.

In April, borough grant coordinator Mike Wentz announced that the water authority would receive a $75,000 grant to go toward the refurbishing of the sewer pump station.
