The Carbon County Housing Authority met in special session this morning and approved the purchase of the Palm Theater Building in Palmerton for $105,000.

The structure is being purchased from Jack Meyers, who is also selling to the authority the theater equipment in the property for an additional $6,000. The authority has hopes of continuing operations of the theater because it is the only one still operating in the county.

The authority also named Edward Knappenberger, Harold Rabenold and Fred Sherrerd to a non-profit board of directors to administer the financing of the proposed high-rise apartment building in Lehighton.
