Lehighton Area School District’s board of directors has a change at the top.
Joy Beers tendered her resignation as board president during a special meeting before Monday night’s workshop.
With Beers stepping down, the board unanimously selected Jeremy Glaush to take over the position of board president.
Beers, who had held the position since the resignation of Larry Stern in November 2021, cited her increasingly demanding workload as the primary reason for her decision.
“I have been working a lot of overtime in my own personal business, and it has been catching up with me,” Beers stated. “This fall, I am taking a break from a lot of things, including work. The role of board president is a little more involved, and I thought I needed to dial it back a bit here as well.”
During her tenure as board president, Beers presided over several significant changes in the Lehighton Area School District. Notably, the district saw the transition from former Superintendent Jonathan Cleaver to the hiring of Dr. Christina Fish in June 2022.
Glaush expressed his gratitude during the meeting following her resignation.
“You led us through some pretty wicked stuff, and we thank you,” Glaush said.
Directors Brian Shaner, Richard Beltz, and Nathan Foeller were absent from Monday’s meeting.
