Firefighters spend day training in Carbon

More than 50 volunteer firefighters from 10 counties participated in a daylong training session Saturday at the Carbon County Training Facility in Nesquehoning.

The session was held despite most of the day being heavy rain.

The event was held by Love the Job Fire Training LLC, a private fire service training group based in Drums.

Kevin Tarapchak, head of Love the Job, said firefighters attended from the counties of Carbon, Schuylkill, Monroe, Northampton, Luzerne, Mercer, Butler, Lackawanna, Berks and Columbia.

Apparatus from the Nesquehoning Fire Department was utilized during the training.

Among the courses held were rescues from burning building, hose operations, vehicle extrication and interior fire attacks.

The firefighters were divided into various groups.

Two overturned cars were utilized for the vehicle extrication class.

The fire training facility was used for various functions including ladder rescues from a burning building.
