Letter to the editor: Calling out Argall, Heffley

Sincere thanks to the Times-News this week for spotlighting two local politicians who want to defund public schools and reduce voter registration.

The photo of Argall (he’s the one with his hands in his pockets) visiting an economically distressed Panther Valley school is puzzling since he and his legislative allies are the ones holding the PA state budget (and school funding) hostage over their demands to designate some taxpayer money to be given to private, religious and charter schools and less to public schools - in continued violation of the PA State Constitution and a recent PA Supreme Court decision ordering full land equitable funding of PA’s public schools! Was he there to view the harm he and the others are causing?

Then yesterday we read Heffley’s negative comments about updating the voter registration system to make it easier to be registered. Perhaps the only thing “uncertain” and “broken” (in his words) is that his political party doesn’t always win.

Voters need to remain vigilant and act accordingly.
