TN/LVHN Athlete of the Week Poll
Here are the nominations for the Times News/Lehigh Valley Health Network Athlete of the Week.
The poll will go live on the Times News Lehighton Sports Facebook page with the following list of candidates today, and close tomorrow at 3 p.m. with the winner determined by the most votes received.
The winner will be featured in Wednesday’s paper.

Athlete of the Week
Sept. 25-Oct. 1
Shannon Green, Northwestern Volleyball
Green was a big part of the Tigers’ 2-0 week, which extended the squad’s winning streak to four matches. She dished out 52 assists and recorded 20 digs in the Tigers’ 3-1 win over Blue Mountain Wednesday, and finished with 26 assists and six digs in a 3-0 win over Pen Argyl Monday.
Nataly Walters, Palmerton Girls Soccer
Walters finished with five goals as the Bombers went 3-1 last week. The junior had a pair of goals to help Palmerton clinch a District 11 playoff berth in a 7-1 win over Notre Dame Green Pond Thursday, and had a hat trick in a 5-2 win over Catasauqua on Tuesday. The Bombers also had 1-0 win over Southern Lehigh in double overtime on Monday in the completion of a suspended game from Sept. 7.
Kimmy Rudy, Tamaqua Girls Soccer
The Blue Raiders went 2-0 last week, outscoring opponents 9-1. Rudy scored twice and had an assist in a critical 6-1 victory over Jim Thorpe on Thursday, and had a goal in Tamaqua’s 3-0 win over North Schuylkill on Monday.
Abbey Kluck, Marian Volleyball
Kluck paced the Fillies with 31 kills, 35 digs and one assist as they went 2-0 in the Marian Homecoming Invitational Saturday. In three matches during the week, Kluck finished with 42 kills, 40 digs, six aces, two assists and one block. She had 16 digs, eight kills, two assists and one ace in a 3-0 win over Schuylkill Haven Thursday, finished with 19 kills and 11 digs in a straight-set victory over Tri-Valley Tuesday, and had 15 kills, 13 digs, one block and one ace in a loss to Notre Dame Green Pond Monday.
Lydon Patascher, Pleasant Valley Golf
Patascher not only finished with the top score in 35-person Class 3A field in the District 11 golf tournament qualifying tournament Tuesday, but had the best round of any golfer the entire day - boy or girl, Class 2A or 3A. Patascher’s even-par round of 72 was four strokes better than second-place finisher Luke Ronca of Nazareth. Patascher carded only four bogeys on the day - two on the front nine and two on the back nine.
