Carbon County opened bids for a roof replacement project at the Lehighton Senior Center/recreation center.
On Thursday, the commissioners opened three bids for the work.
The lowest bid came from H&P Construction of Kulpmont, which submitted a bid of $70,440.60. Symmetry Construction Enterprise of Nesquehoning submitted a bid of $87,836 and Northeast CM Group of Lehighton bid $146,500.
The board then tabled the bids not to exceed two weeks to allow for officials to review bids and make a recommendation for a contract.
The project is part of Community Development Block Grant funding, which is why Carbon County is overseeing the bidding.
In other block grant matters, the commissioners are advertising four projects for bid.
The projects include water/sewer improvements along Red Hill Road in Franklin Township; water/sewer improvements along Forge Street/White Street in Weissport; street improvements along Center Road between Maple Drive and Willard Drive in Mahoning Township; and the demolition of 135-139 North First St., Lehighton.
The board also ratified two block grant actions.
The first was an amendment to 2020 block grant funds, changing the expiration date to June 28, 2024. The funds remain $481,147.
The second was for 2022 block grant funds in the amount of $861,105 for an activity period of May 24 through May 23, 2027.
