Mahoning Township has agreed to support its fire department’s request to apply for funding to replace a leaky roof over its social hall.
Supervisors unanimously agreed on Wednesday to conditionally approve the Mahoning Valley Fire Department’s application for a Local Share Account grant in the amount not to exceed $70,000.
In other fire department matters, the board approved a request from the fire department to replace a command utility vehicle.
Chief Mark Ebbert told the board the 2008 vehicle is aged, rusted out, and likely wouldn’t pass inspection.
He said the department would utilize $22,499 from out of its fire fund to put toward a used replacement vehicle.
Ebbert said that he has authority from the fire department to spend up to $38,000.
