Police investigate crashes on Route 33

State police at Stroudsburg reported on the following crashes on Route 33:

• No one was injured in a one-car crash at 5:31 p.m. Sunday on Route 33 in Hamilton Township.

State police at the Stroudsburg barracks did not identify the driver of the 2007 Toyota Camry, but said the car was northbound on the wet and slippery highway when the operator lost control of it.

The car spun counter-clockwise towards the right shoulder where it struck the guiderail. Police said the vehicle was able to be driven from the scene.

• A 17-year-old girl from Wilkes-Barre was cited by state police at the Stroudsburg barracks after a crash at 8:59 p.m. Sept. 6 on Route 33 in Hamilton Township. She was uninjured.

Police said she was driving a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe northbound when it merged into the left lane of traffic and swerved into the right lane to avoid southbound traffic. Police said the car continued uncontrollably onto the east shoulder where it struck a guide rail, traveled onto the rail and slid to a final rest on top of the railing.

• A woman escaped injuries when a 2009 Toyota Corolla she was driving experienced a blown-out tire in Route 33 in Hamilton Township at 6:03 p.m. Sept. 8.

Police said Sarina Franco, no age or address provided, was southbound when the incident happened, resulting in the car “fishtailing” in a counter-clockwise rotation, crossing both lanes and striking a center guiderail.

Police said she told them she would contact her own tow (AAA) company.
