State police at Hazleton
State police at the Hazleton barracks have released the following reports of incidents police responded to recently:
• Michele A. Antolick, 49, of Weatherly, sustained suspected minor injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 7:48 a.m. Sept. 25 on Wetzel Run Road in Packer Township. Police said she declined emergency medical services treatment.
Police said she was driving a 2020 Dodge Durango eastbound when it traveled off the right side of the road, struck a mailbox and continued eastbound striking and shearing off a Verizon utility pole.
Police said the vehicle sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.
Antolick was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
• Emely Arias Pujols, 25, of Hazleton, was cited after a crash at 7:14 p.m. Sept. 23 at the intersection of Maplewood Drive and Forest Road in Hazle Township.
Police said she was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze north on Maplewood Drive, approaching the intersection with Forest Road, when it failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a 2022 Subaru Forester driven by Samson Z. Walton, 29, of Weatherly. He had proceeded from its stopped position and entered the intersection when the Forester was struck.
Police said both drivers sustained suspected minor injuries. Arias Pujols was transported by personnel from the Valley Regional Fire and Rescue Squad while Walton refused a medical transport.
Police said both vehicles received “functional” damages.
• Raymond E. Milnes, 48, of Freeland, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed as a result of a crash at 6:52 p.m. Sept. 23 at the intersection of Hazle Township Boulevard and North Church Street in Hazle Township.
Police said he was driving a 2000 GMC Sonoma west on the boulevard at a speed that was faster than reasonable and prudent. The vehicle failed to stop for a red light signal, crossed into the opposite lane and struck a 2018 Toyota Prius driven by Michael T. Wyffels, 66, of Weatherly, causing severe damages to both vehicles. Police said a 2019 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Lacey A. Gallagher, 37, of Hazle Township, sustained minor damages as a result of debris from the tractor trailer hitting it.
Police said Milnes and a passenger, Jadeine Milnes, 48, also of Freeland, were injured and transported y personnel from the American Patient Transport System to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton. They said the severity of their injuries is unknown.
The Sonoma and Prius were towed from the scene while the Blazer remained functional, police said.
Wyffels was uninjured, as were a passenger in his vehicle and two passengers who were with Gallagher.
• Police charged a 34-year-old Weatherly man with harassment by physical contact after a domestic incident they responded to at 1:26 p.m. Sept. 20 at a property on Buck Mountain Road in Lausanne Township. The victim is a 37-year-old Weatherly woman who told them the man pulled her by her hair.
• A 19-year-old Beaver Meadows man is the victim of a theft by deception incident. Police said it happened between midnight Sept. 18 and midnight Sept. 19 at a property on Stockton Mountain Road, Hazle Township. The victim told police he a theft regarding checks.
• Police arrested a 55-year-old Weatherly man for harassment by physical contact after a domestic incident at 7:44 p.m. Sept. 15 at a property on the Quakake Road in Packer Township. The victim is a 28-year-old woman from Tamaqua who told police the man slapper her, pushed her head into the kitchen counter and pushed her to the floor.
• A 57-year-old Weatherly man was charged with disorderly conduct when police went to a property on Oak Hill Road, Packer Township, at 9:03 a.m. Sept. 15. Police said he was intoxicated and making unreasonable noise.
• Brianna Monahan, 21, of Jim Thorpe, is facing retail theft (shoplifting) charges as a result of an incident at 2:08 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Walmart store, Airport Road, Hazle Township. Police said it is alleged she failed to scan $35.91 worth of pet supplies.
• Police arrested Dean Gunderson, 63, of White Haven, for public drunkenness following an incident at 775 Foster Ave., Foster Township.
• Two tractor trailer drivers were cited after an incident at 6:35 a.m. Sept. 20 on Interstate 80 in Butler Township. No one was injured.
Police said a 2005 Peterbuilt truck tractor driven by Eric S. Smeal, 49, of Mill Hall, was eastbound when it drifted to the right, drove off the fog line and sideswiped a 2024 Kenworth truck tractor operated by Clifton A. Morgan, 38, of Slatington. Police said the latter vehicle was stopped on the right shoulder of the interstate at the time,
After sideswiping the second rig, the Peterbuilt continued traveling east, depositing diesel fuel and oil onto the highway and eventually went down an embankment and jack-knifed.
Police said the crash closed the interstate for about 4-1/2 hours.
They said Smeal was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic while Morgan was cited for prohibition on specified places.
• Cheryl M. Price, 44, of Hazle Township, and Ilonka A. Marte Estrada, 27, of Allentown, sustained suspected minor injuries in a crash at 8:01 a.m. Sept. 19 on the Plane Road highway in Banks Township.
Police said the crash happened when rice, driving a 2007 Hyundai Sonata, attempted to make a left turn onto Plane Road when it was unsafe to do so and the vehicle struck a 2008 Honda Ridgeline operated by Marte Estrada. Police said the Honda then struck a guide rail, rolling over onto its right side.
Police said she was trapped inside her vehicle and was extricated by physical means.
The vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
Police said Price was cited for “turning movement and required signals.”
• Two vehicles were damaged in a work zone area on Interstate 81 in Butler Township at 6:37 a.m. Sept. 12. No one was injured.
Police said Edwin A. Williams, 56, of Dillsburg, deriving a 2017 Toyota Tundra, and Adam Perna, 26, of Kelayres, operating a 2014 Ford F150, were both northbound when they approached the work zone. Police said the Tundra struck the F150 as both drivers applied their brakes. They said the Tundra sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene while the F150 had minor damages and was driven from the scene.
A 34-year-old Tresckow man was charged with retail theft when state police at the Hazleton barracks were summoned to the Walmart store on Airport Road in Hazle Township at 3:11 p.m. Sept. 13.
Police said he tried to steal four steaks and a bottle of steak sauce, leaving the store without paying for them. The value of the products is $78.69.
