On a 3-2 vote, the Weissport Borough Council last night named former councilman Guy Frehulfer as mayor. He succeeds his brother, Don Frehulfer, who resigned last month due to health reasons.

Council members Dennis Moser, president, Steve Mansueto and Jamie Brown supported the appointment.

Frehulfer was selected over newcomer Sherry Nikisher, who had the support of council members Shannon McAward and Tim Rehrig.

In addition to having previously served on council, the new mayor is a former member of the Weissport Municipal Authority.
