Dr. Elmer W. Heffelfinger of Lansford was appointed National Commander’s Representative for the American Legion magazine by Thomas L, Bock of Aurora, Colorado, during the 87th National Convention of the nation’s largest veterans organization held in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Dr. Heffelfinger is a member of the Davis-Lawton-Yurko-Breslin-Bevich American Legion Post 316, Summit Hill, where in 2001-2002 he served as commander. From 2002-2004, he served as the 30th District commander, representing 29 Legion posts throughout Carbon, Monroe and Northampton counties.

Dr. Heffelfinger is currently the chairman of the state American Legion Essay Contest and is vice chair of the state Legion’s Scouting Committee.
