State police at the Lehighton barracks said a 75-year-old woman and an 81-year-old man, both from Lehighton, are the victims of a courier scam in which someone attempted to steal $50,000 from them.

Police said they were called to a property on Interchange Road in Towamensing Township at 3:19 p.m. Sept. 24 after an someone contacted the couple and demanded money via a courier scam.
