State police at Frackville crashes

State police at Fern Ridge reported on several recent crashes:

• Stephen J. Becker, 44, of Coaldale, had minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash at 6:13 a.m. Sept. 1 on Keystone Boulevard in Cass Township.

Police said he was transported by personnel from the Minersville EMS corps to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pottsville.

Police said the crash happened when a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Ralph J. Hoagland II, 55, of Minersville, traveling north on Highridge Park Road turned onto Keystone Boulevard in front of a 2008 Mazda driven by Becker, causing the collision. Both vehicles needed to be towed from the scene.

Hoagland was uninjured, police said.

• Stephen Moya, 32, of Easton, was cited after a crash at 5:54 a.m. Sept. 16 on North Kennedy Drive in Kline Township. He was uninjured.

Police said he was driving a 2012 Nissan Versa north when he swerved onto the right shoulder of the road to avoid striking a deer that was crossing the road. The Versa struck a utility pole and traffic sign before traveling back onto the roadway and coming to rest on the right shoulder of the road facing north. The vehicle sustained disabling damages.

• Police said the driver of a vehicle that left the roadway on the Tuscarora Mountain Road in Ryan Township and struck a traffic sign left the scene in an unknown direction.

It happened at 8:33 p.m. Sept. 8 south of Chee Street. Police said the vehicle was traveling north at an unknown seed when the driver failed to negotiate a left-hand curve, left the roadway and struck the sign on the east shoulder.

• Hailey A. Califf, 19, of New Philadelphia, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 10:25 a.m. Sept. 3 on Pine Street in Blythe Township.

Police said she was driving a 2019 Kia Sportage northbound when she attempted to enter a driveway to the east. Police said she turned before entering the driveway, causing the car to travel down a steep embankment. It had minor damages.

Police said Califf fled the scene.

Jordan T. Lipshaw, 23, of Pottsville, was cited after a one-vehicle crash at 5:46 p.m. Sept. 10 on Valley Road in Cass Township. He was uninjured.

Police said he was driving a 1997 Chevrolet S10 northbound and was rounding a left curve in the roadway when he lost control of the vehicle. After unsuccessfully trying to get the vehicle under control, it spun clockwise and struck a guide rail on the east side of the road.

Police said the vehicle needed to be towed from the scene.

• John T. Jones, 64, and Annette L. Jones, 60, of Summit Hill, were injured in a one-car crash at 8:52 p.m. Sept. 9 on Route 54 (Barnesville Drive) in Mahanoy Township.

Police said they were transported by personnel from the Tamaqua Community Ambulance Association to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Miners Campus, Coaldale.

Police said John Jones was operating the 2010 Ford Fusion east on Barnesville Drive when a boulder fell onto the road and landed in the right lane of traffic. Police said he was unsuccessful in trying to avoid striking the boulder due to rain and lowlight conditions. After striking it, Jones lost control of the Fusion, swerved to the left into the westbound lane and struck an embankment of the shoulder of the road. Police said the car sustained disabling damages.

• Raven M. Womer, 21, of Pottsville, had serious injuries in a motorcycle crash at 5:36 p.m. Sept. 11 on Brockton Mountain Road in Ryan Township.

Police said he was transported by personnel from the Ryan Township Emergency and Rescue Squad to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill, Pottsville.

Police said he was operating a 2005 Yamaha south when he lost control of it while negotiating a right-handed curve at the intersection with Front Road. The cycle subsequently fell onto its right side and crossed over into the northbound lane before leaving the roadway and traveling down an embankment.

Police said the cycle was towed from the scene.
