State police at the Bethlehem barracks reported on area incidents:
A 66-year-old Slatington man reported an identity theft incident at 10:45 a.m. Aug. 25, on Ridge Lane, Washington Township.
Police said someone opened a Verizon account using his identifying information without his permission. Police said the activity was reported to Verizon, which closed the account.
• A 76-year-old Emerald woman who resides along Fury Court in Washington Township reported a theft by deception case.
Police said she reported at 3:31 p.m. Aug. 30 that she received a text message from an unknown number purporting to be the pastor at her church. The victim said she purchased $900 in Apple gift cards and send the serial numbers to the unknown number, only to later find out from the pastor that she was never asked to purchase the gift cards.
• Police are investigating the theft of a catalytic converter valued at $2,500.
It was taken off a 2011 Ford F450 between 3 p.m. Aug. 28 and 2 p.m. Aug. 29, police said. The owner of the truck is a 60-year-old man from Bath.
