Pink Light Walk is Oct. 3 in Lehighton
The Lehighton Area Lioness Lions Club is hosting its 18th annual Pink Light Walk and Basket Raffle on Tuesday, Oct. 3, at the Lehighton Boys and Girls Band Hall.
Doors open for the basket raffle and registration at 4 p.m. and the walk to the Lehighton Amphitheatre is at 6 p.m.
While at the amphitheatre, Dr. Ranju Gupta, Lehigh Valley Health Network Hematologist/Oncologist, and Amanda Lindenmoyer, breast cancer survivor, will speak.
Lindenmoyer is a strong proponent of women getting mammograms.
All survivors will be acknowledged with a gift and will be provided with the opportunity to introduce themselves and share their number of years of survivorship.
Other highlights of the event include each participant receiving a glow bracelet to show their support, a bag piper (weather permitting) to escort the crowd down the steps at the amphitheatre and a visit from the Pink Heels Ambulance.
There will also be a few vendors giving out information and selling items.
After returning to the band hall, all supporters who preregistered will receive a makeup bag with a few goodies.
There will be refreshments, including hot dogs, cupcake, apple cider (donated by Seltzer’s Nursery & Farm stand) and bottled water. Winners of the basket raffle will be announced.
The event is free and will be held rain or shine. Participants are asked to preregister via email at pinklightwalk@yahoo.com and indicate whether they are a survivor or supporter. Preregistration is strongly encouraged. All proceeds benefit the PA Breast Cancer Coalition.
The club also has a Breast Cancer Awareness store that is open only until Friday. The store has hats, long and short sleeved T-shirts, jackets and more for purchase at bcstore23.itemorder.com. Items are paid for at the time of order and can be picked up on the day of the event after 4 p.m. at the band hall.
If unable to attend the event and individuals are interested in donating a basket or providing a monetary donation, call Brenda Green at 570-657-7453.
