Athlete of the week poll
It was another memorable week for Times News area athletes.
Here are the nominations for the Times News/Lehigh Valley Health Network Athlete of the Week.
The poll will go live on the Times News Lehighton Sports Facebook page with the following list of candidates later today, and close tomorrow at 3 p.m. with the winner determined by the most votes received.
The winner will be featured in Wednesday’s paper.

Athlete of the Week
Sept. 11-17
Gabby Brown, Lehighton Field Hockey - Brown scored seven goals to help the Indians go 2-0 last week. She scored all five in a 5-1 win over Northern Lehigh Thursday, and twice to help the Indians rally past Salisbury 2-1 on Saturday, including the game-winner with three minutes left, to help the Tribe improve to 6-2. The senior has 15 goals on the season.
Aryn Stivala, Pleasant Valley Girls Soccer - Stivala scored six goals and added five assists as the Bears went 3-0 last week, posting wins over Bangor (2-1), Dieruff (9-1) and East Stroudsburg North (9-0). Stivala had a hat trick against the Timberwolves on Saturday as the Bears moved to 5-4. She has nine goals and five assists in the last foru games.
Katelynn Barthold, Northern Lehigh Girls Soccer - Barthold scored eight goals to lead the Bulldogs to a 3-0 week. Barthold scored twice in a 4-0 win over NDGP on Tuesday, and poured in five goals in a 6-1 rout against Pen Argyl Wednesday. She capped the week with the go-ahead goal in the second half to lift NL to a 2-1 win over Tamaqua Saturday to improve to 6-1 on the season.
Noah Geiser, Jim Thorpe Boys Soccer - Geiser had a hat trick in the first half to help the Olympians roll to a 6-1 win over North Schuylkill on Monday. Geiser had an assist in the victory, and also added an assist in Jim Thorpe’s 3-1 win over Lehighton on Wednesday to help the team improve to 4-4 this season.
Connor Hibell, Palmerton Cross Country - Hibell posted two victories in Colonial League action this past week. Hibell’s first victory came on Tuesday with a time of 16:20.50 against runners from Bangor, Wilson, Pen Argyl, Northwestern and Northern Lehigh. Hibell kept the momentum going with another victory Thursday in 17:00, this time against runners from Salisbury, Southern Lehigh and Catasauqua as well as the Tigers and Bulldogs. The Bombers are 4-4 on the season.
