C’hill Historical
A regular business meeting of the Chestnuthill Township Historical Society will be held at 6 p.m. next Wednesday at the township’s park building on Route 715.
Lynn Heckman, owner-operator of Heckman Orchard will speak at 6:45 p.m.
Heckman Orchards is a local 60-plus year-old mainstay of Chestnuthill’s business community.
He specializes in local arrowheads and artifacts, as well as the culture and history of the Lenni-Lenape who once populated this township. He is also a professional flintknapper, one who recreates arrowheads and artifacts by using methods that indigenous people would have used to create their tools.
Church flea market
St. Peter’s United Methodist Church is hosting an outdoor flea market on Sept. 23, with a rain date of Sept. 30.
It will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Members suggest reserving a vendor space by calling 570-992-6930 for information or leaving a message at the church by calling 570-992-7311.
Sunday pancakes
There will be an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine, Sunday, at the Pegasus Airpark Hanger, 222 Hickory Lane, Saylorsburg, presented by EAA 839 Chapter.
Breakfast will include pancakes, sausage, OJ, coffee, and breakfast cakes.
Pocono Riders Motorcycle Club will be welcomed, and there will be free Young Eagles flights for ages 8 to17. In addition, the event includes kids building planes, hot air balloon, paramotor, parachutist displays - depending on weather.

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will hold a Senior Luncheon at 1 p.m. Monday, after the 12:10 p.m. Mass.
Antique show
The Western Pocono Women’s Club will meet at 7 p.m., Monday, at Effort UMC. The program will be an Antique Show coordinated by Greta Weaver.

Church Women United of Monroe County will hold a business meeting at noon on Sept. 22, at Faith United Methodist Church, 1160 Church Drive, Stroudsburg.

Alpaca Days set
National Alpaca Farm Days will be celebrated for two days at L’Eredita di Favale, at 299 Brick Church Road, Saylorsburg.
On Saturday, Sept. 23, hours are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 24, hours are from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is free and parking is on the road.
The day includes experiencing the alpacas up close, feeling the alpaca fleece, touring the farm, learning about raising and breeding alpacas, shopping for alpaca products and more. Food trucks, fresh eggs and honey will be for sale.

Practice begins
Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church, Brodheadsville, is beginning practices for its Christmas musical “Christmas Hang Ups” on Saturday.
Performances will be presented on Dec. 17, at both the first and second service.

Contest reminder
Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center has announced its 2024 Photo Contest and invites folks to send in photos that showcase Monroe County’s finest natural resources. Winners will receive maple syrup from the Meesing Sugarbush and a 2024 MCCD calendar.
Submissions are due Sept. 23. One grand prize winner will also be featured on the cover of the 2024 calendar.

TOPS celebration
Take Off Pounds Sensibly 1113 in Kresgeville is hosting a 75th Birthday Celebration of the founding of the weight loss support group at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 18. at Salem-St. Paul Lutheran Church in Kresgeville.
This organization was established in 1948 and has grown to be internationally recognized as a successful group of like-minded chapters throughout the United States and Canada.
The current chapter invites folks to learn more of how to achieve weight loss and sustain that weight loss through the TOPS program. There will be a social hour, and light refreshments will be offered.
