Ross Twp. prepping for Saturday’s Community Day

A variety of events and performances are planned for Saturday’s Ross Township Community Day.

The event, from noon to 4 p.m., will feature a dance performance, musician, crafts and games for the kids, popcorn, local organizations and a fire truck.

“We’re still seeking volunteers to help at the event,” said Deb Brown, Ross Township secretary-treasurer, during Monday’s supervisors meeting.

Her daughter, musician Ally Brown, will sing during the day. At 1:30 p.m. during her break, Cartesion Dance Academy will perform.

Vendors include Laura’s Cupcakes, state Rep. Jack Rader, Penn State Extension – Master Watershed Stewards, the Ross Township Historical Society and Girl Scouts. Hot dogs will be available for $1.

The free event is in the township park, 250 Anchorage Rd., Saylorsburg.

The historical society’s museum will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Entry to see the exhibits is free. The museum is located on the top floor of the annex building by the park.

In other township business:

• Chairman James Zahoroiko began the meeting with a moment of silence for those lost on Sept. 11, 2001.

• The supervisors are working on updating their yard sale ordinance. Residents can participate in township-wide yard sale days twice a year for free. The township will advertise the participating addresses on their website.

• The 2024 budget meeting is at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1 and open to the public.

• The supervisors voted 3-0 to pump water on Ross Road. Vice Chairman Shay said the water is not rushing, but it must be dealt with soon. They were hoping it would dry up on its own. Roadmaster Ethan Brewer said the pump quote is about $1,500.
