State police at Pocono have released the details of a crash Saturday night on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike that killed Jackie W. Lynch, 63, of Wilkes-Barre.
The crash happened at 11:01 p.m. at about mile marker 97.4 in Kidder Township.
Carbon County Coroner Robert Miller said Lynch, who was a passenger in the front right side seat of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the car was being driven by a 57-year-old man, whose name was not released. They said the vehicle was northbound when it hydroplaned and slid out of control.
The vehicle hit the concrete center barrier with its left rear fender, then traveled across both lanes of travel and off the east berm continuing to travel about 80 feet into a grassy area where it struck a tree. Police said the vehicle came to rest about 5 feet from the tree.
