W. Penn hears road report

When West Penn Township supervisor Timothy Houser complimented the township road crew on the paving they completed on Mantzville Road, he was met with some bad news.

“I was informed by our road crew that there is a very good possibility that the engine on our paver is blown,” he said. “It’s an old one.”

Houser said there might be grants available to help cover the cost of replacement.

Supervisors’ Chairman Tony Prudenti said that over the last eight years, township roadmaster Jeremy Frable has secured almost $1 million in grants.

“Kudos to you, Jeremy,” Prudenti said.

For the month of August, the township road crew maintained township buildings and equipment, cleaned shoulders on Pine Ridge Road, painted stop bars at intersections and pipes along various roads, cleaned trees from roads, hauled stone for an upcoming project at High Drive, paved sections of Mantzville Road, trimmed and mowed grass, and applied for a grant for gravel.

During the meeting, the board approved sending Frable to a dirt, gravel and low volume maintenance workshop.
