Tamaqua police log

Tamaqua Police released information on the following incidents:

• A Tamaqua man had one too many and passed out on the steps of a Center Street Chinese food restaurant on Aug. 25.

Tamaqua police said Alec Burkos, 21, had an open container of Natty Daddy Next to him when he was found at 1:28 a.m. There was an empty can of the alcoholic beverage in his backpack.

Police said he admitted to drinking, had slurred speech and he was not able to walk without almost falling over.

He was checked by emergency personnel, and cited for public drunkenness before being transported to his home.

• A Tamaqua woman was cited for disorderly conduct by borough police following a 4 p.m. incident on Aug. 24 on the 300 block of Hazle Street.

Police were dealing with an earlier disturbance when they said Elizabeth Schwoyer, 21, became loud and disorderly. Despite being asked to quiet down and minimize her cursing, she continued to yell. Officers felt it was best for her to take a walk around the block to calm down, but as she was doing so, she threw a white electronic box onto the hood of her ex-boyfriend’s vehicle. Police said as she continued to yell, neighbors began opening their doors out of concern.

• Police charged a Weatherly man with criminal mischief after he damaged property at a borough store on Aug. 26.

According to police, officers were called to Advanced Auto at 10:50 a.m. and spoke to a manager who said a man, later identified as Daniel Sabella, 37, attempted to return two batteries to the store. When the manager said he could only find a receipt for one battery, he said Sabella became upset. Sabella stormed out of the store by pushing open a door, and when he left, a customer noticed that the door’s bottom window was shattered.

An estimate revealed the damages amounted to $620.10. Police also charged Sabella with disorderly conduct.
