Special services

Weekend Masses over the next several weeks will feature explanations of items and procedures at Mass. Materials will be provided.

The Annual Forty Hours Eucharistic Devotion will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 5 through Thursday, Sept. 7. Adoration will take place from 8:30 a.m. through 7 p.m. each night, concluding with Solemn Vespers (Evening Prayer) on Tuesday and Wednesday, but with Mass on Thursday, all at 7 p.m. The Angelorum Choir will lead the chanting and offer sacred music beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keeping with the theme of former SSPP Pastors, we welcome back the Rev. Philip F. Rodgers, now Pastor of St. Patrick in Pottsville, who served the parish from 1999-2003.

On Thursday, Sept. 7, the parishes of Carbon County will renew their consecration to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Eucharistic Adoration will take place at each parish from 9 a.m. to noon, during which the Holy Rosary and the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary will be prayed. Speakers will give Marian talks at our Catholic schools. This day of dedication will conclude with Mass at SSPP at 7 p.m., also the conclusion of our Forty Hours. Former Pastor the Rev. Phil Rodgers will preach for the Mass. We hope you can join in our offering to Mary, who draws us ever closer to her divine Son.
