The following cases came before Carbon County Judge Steven R. Serfass.
Maliq Malachi Strother, 21, of Palmerton, was charged by Lehighton state Trooper Shannon A. Grundmann with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, first offense; reckless driving; possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of a controlled substance: disregarding traffic lanes; and careless driving on Nov. 5, 2022.
Carbon County Judge Steven R. Serfass accepted Strother into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program for one year.
The program, for non-violent first time offenders, allows defendants to have their records expunged upon successful completion.
Judge Serfass ordered Strother to pay $650 to offset the cost of the program; pay a $50 monthly supervision fee; surrender his license for 90 days; perform 50 hours of community service; obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation; and pay court costs.
Jasmine Estrella, 36, of Hazleton, was charged by Lehighton police Officer Gabriel Szozda with manufacture, delivery or intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance; possession of a controlled substance; and possession of drug paraphernalia on April 10.
Judge Serfass accepted her into ARD for two years and ordered her to pay $450 to offset the cost of the program. He also ordered her to obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation and abide by any treatment recommendations, and warned her authorities will have zero tolerance for any drug or alcohol use or missed screens.
