Thanks to Joe Steo, owner of Easy Street Home Inspections who partnered with Monroe County Habitat for Humanity, an elderly Gilbert woman’s home is ready for winter. Steo and three other volunteers winterized the small home of 91-year-old Helen Admundsen.
The team cleaned out and insulated the crawl space closed off the hole in the ceiling where there was once a stove pipe and built new steps to the front and back door.
“I really appreciate, the volunteers, as well as Monroe County Habitat for Humanity,” Admundsen said. “Before my husband died he said you have to save your money so you can buy a house and I saved my money and bought this little bungalow and it is my home.”
Monroe County Habitat for Humanity’s main focus for 2023 is preservation, which allows homeowners who are low income, elderly or disabled to make necessary repairs on their homes.
