A Palmerton resident has asked borough officials to consider changing when it convenes privately to handle confidential matters.
Lisa Snell Kern asked borough council on Thursday if it would contemplate holding its executive sessions about a half-hour before its meetings.
Snell Kern said that may help with the flow of things, rather than breaking for executive sessions during its meetings.
“We’re often out there 30-45 minutes asking ‘do we need to stay’,” Snell Kern said.
Council President Terry Costenbader told Snell Kern that council would “kick that around a little bit.”
“Sometimes, it’s necessary,” Costenbader said. “Lately, it’s been necessary.”
Councilwoman Holly Hausman Sell added that council feels bad for residents who attend when council’s executive sessions last long.
On Thursday, council broke for a roughly 30-minute executive session near the end of its meeting.
Once council reconvened, no action resulted from the session.
