A Narcan distribution event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 31 at Hope & Coffee, 137 Pine St., Tamaqua.

The event falls on International Overdose Awareness Day, and is sponsored by Clinical Outcomes Group Inc. (COGI), Pottsville, and Hope & Coffee.

COGI will provide Narcan kits and resources for treatment options.

Narcan, a brand name for naloxone, is a medicine that rapidly reverses an opioid overdose.

International Overdose Awareness Day is an annual campaign to end overdose, remember without stigma those who have died from overdose, and acknowledge the grief of the family and friends left behind.
