Lehighton mechanic named top technician

Cox Automotive Mobility Fleet Services recently announced that Zach Nikorak has been selected as Light/Medium Duty Grand Champion at the annual Top Tech competition for professional fleet maintenance technicians.

A resident of Lehighton, Nikorak was among a select group of 30 competitors representing the top 1% of Cox technicians nationwide.

He and two other Top Tech Grand Champions will represent Cox Automotive at the Technology and Maintenance Council’s SuperTech event, which will take place Sept. 17 to 21, in Cleveland, Ohio.

“We’re extremely proud of Zach Nikorak and his fellow champions, as well as our runners up and finalists,” said Ted Coltrain, vice president of operations, Cox Automotive Mobility Fleet Services. “These individuals play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, efficient operation of commercial fleets across the U.S., and we applaud their commitment to excellence.”

Cox Automotive Mobility Fleet Services hosts the Top Tech competition annually, inviting the most accomplished 30 technicians out of more than 3,000 to vie for the title of Grand Champion in three categories: Heavy Duty Truck, Light/Medium-Duty Truck, and Trailer.

During the competition, participants demonstrate the skill and grit they bring to their work daily, rotating through multiple hands-on and knowledge-based stations. This year’s practical challenges included EV safety checks and preventive maintenance.

“I’m incredibly honored to have been selected as a Top Tech winner; for professional vehicle technicians, this is like winning an Academy Award,” said Nikorak. “Competing with the best in the business is an honor in and of itself, and now having the opportunity to go up against the top techs from across the industry next month takes the recognition to a whole new level.”

Nikorak has been a technician with Cox Automotive for eight years and has worked in Lehighton for that entire time.

“Our more than 1,400 elite technicians ensure our customers’ trucks and trailers keep moving by delivering a seamless service and support experience 24/7,” added Coltrain. “Zach Nikorak and his colleagues are the reason our customers can count on us as the reliable and trusted partner they count on.”

Mobile maintenance for light, medium and heavy-duty trucks and trailers are a cornerstone of Cox Automotive Mobility Fleet Services. This includes the nation’s largest 24/7 emergency repair and towing service.
