Lehighton Borough Police
Lehighton Police Department reported on the following incidents:
• At 2:20 p.m. Aug. 15, a traffic stop was issued for an equipment violation in the 1000 block of Bridge Street. Throughout investigation, it was established the driver, Javier Rivera Jr. 22, of Lehigh County, had recently used marijuana and was in possession of it.
A search of the vehicle occurred, during which marijuana was located, as well as a loaded handgun. Rivera was determined to be an individual not to possess a firearm.
Rivera was charged with persons not to possess a firearm, firearms not to be carried without a license, DUI, possession of marijuana and related drug offenses, as well as several traffic violations. Rivera was lodged at the Carbon County Correctional Facility.
• At 6:57 p.m. Aug. 6, police were called to a reported theft of rented equipment from the Rent-A-Center in the 300 block of South Third Street. During the investigation pursuant to the report, evidence was discovered indicating Eric Williams, 51, of Lehighton, had lied to authorities concerning the time and nature of the theft, as well as evidence indicated that Williams, with the assistance of Emily Williams, 23, and Auston Williams, 20, also of Lehighton, had removed the generator himself from the premises.
Eric Williams has been charged with false reports to authorities, theft of leased property, and conspiracy, while Emily Williams and Auston Williams have both been charged with conspiracy. These charges have been filed and are awaiting approval from the Carbon County District Attorney’s Office.
• At 10:37 p.m. Aug. 2, a black Pontiac was observed traveling eastbound in the 900 block on Mahoning Street with no registration lighting and operating in a careless manner.
Police conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, at which time a 21-year-old man from Luzerne County was found to have a suspended driver’s license, a fraudulent inspection sticker and appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance.
The man, who police did not identify, was taken into custody for DUI and found to posses a controlled substance. Charges are pending lab results.
• At 4:54 p.m. July 27, Edward Rose and Joey Rose of Lehighton were involved in a physical altercation with another Lehighton man in the area of Zion’s UCC Church in the 200 block of Iron Street. The victim sustained a fractured eye socket and damaged property.
Both Edward Rose and Joey Rose were charged with simple assault, harassment, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief.
