State police at Fern Ridge - incidents
State police at the Fern Ridge barrack were summoned to investigate three accidents and six other incidents recently.
They reported the following:
• Alondra Cordero, 27, of Effort, was cited after a two-vehicle crash at 9:04 a.m. July 25 on Route 715 in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said she was driving a 2019 Toyota Camry northbound when she attempted to turn left into the Chestnuthill Park in front of a 2016 Hyundai Tucson operated by Alisha Estevez, 22, of Saylorsburg, striking it and causing disabling damages to both vehicles.
Police said Cordero and a passenger, a 9-year-old girl from Effort, were transported by West End Ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono, East Stroudsburg, while Estevez refused treatment at the scene.
A passenger with her, Emilia Estevez, 22, also of Saylorsburg, was not taken to a hospital.
Police said the severity of the injuries of the parties is unknown.
• Serenity H. Gerhart, 19, of Albrightsville, was cited after a crash at 7:53 p.m. Aug. 18 on Route 903 in Penn Forest Township.
Police said she was driving a 2007 Nissan Murano that failed to yield to oncoming traffic and was struck by a 2022 Honda Accord driven by Het B. Patel, 20, of Bensalem.
Police said Gerhart and a toddler girl were transported by personnel from the Lehighton Ambulance to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township.
A second passenger in the Murano and Het were uninjured.
• Police said the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office declined to prosecute a suspect who was denied a gun purchase.
The incident happened at 3:18 p.m. March 26, 2022, when the suspect attempted to buy a Smith & Wesson gun at Dunkelberger’s Sports Outfitter, 1471 Route 209, Chestnuthill Township.
Police said the suspect completed a forearms transaction record and application/record of sale form, after which time a store employee did a background check through the Pennsylvania Instant Check System, which denied the purchase.
Police said an investigation of the denial was conducted and the DA’s office opted not to file criminal charges against the suspect.
• Rene Cabrera, 38, of the Bronx, New York, is facing charges of fleeing and eluding, recklessly endangering another person, drug possession and multiple traffic offenses after an incident at 2:57 p.m. July 1.
Police said a traffic stop on a white pickup bearing a New York registration plate took place in the parking lot of the Onvio Truck Plaza, Tobyhanna Township, after which time Cabrera fled the scene on Interstate 80.
He was taken into custody without incident.
• Police were summoned to Kinsley’s Shop Rite, Brodheadsville, to investigate shoplifting incidents that happened between 10:55 a.m. May 14 and midnight June 29.
Police said a suspect entered the store on three separate occasions and stole $200 worth of merchandise. The suspect was seen in a 2013 Jaguar.
• A 55-year-old Albrightsville woman is a theft by deception victim.
Police said they were called at 5:49 p.m. Aug. 16 to a property on Aspen Drive in Penn Forest Township, where the victim related someone used her personal information to open Yahoo, Google and Microsoft accounts.
• A 15-year-old boy from Kunkletown was cited for harassment by physical contact after police were called to an incident at 4:28 p.m. Aug. 13 on Brink Road in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said the victim is a 15-year-old girl from Kunkletown. They said the investigation determined the harassment took place at a third party residence.
• A 73-year-old Saylorsburg man is the victim of a theft incident that was reported to police at 1:17 p.m. Aug. 3. It happened on Shafer Drive in Chestnuthill Township when someone removed a registration plat off a box truck wile it was parked at the above location. The plate is valued at $25.
• No one was injured in a mishap at 3:28 p.m. July 26 on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township.
State police said it happened when Judith A. Clossey, 57, of Effort, was driving a 2017 Ford Fusion southbound and an unknown vehicle passed the car while pulling a utility trailer.
Police said the trailer struck the left front end of the Fusion, which was able to be driven from the scene.
