Gone are the days of signing out on a clipboard to use the restroom or go to another part of the school building.
The Carbon Career & Technical Institute Joint Operating Committee, during its monthly meeting, approved the purchase of two new technologies to be used in the school starting this school year.
SmartPass, which includes the Hall Pass Pro Plan, ID Cards Pro, Flex, and Attendance, is being purchased for a total annual cost of $3,069. SmartPass will replace the old way of getting a hall pass to use the restroom or go to another part of the school. Students will log their activities on a Chromebook in each classroom.
“Weatherly currently uses this, as does the Stroudsburg School District,” Principal Michelle Allen said. “It should minimize hall traffic, issues in bathrooms, track students’ whereabouts, and can send messages to, for example, the guidance officers if a student wants to visit their office.”
CCTI also purchased unlimited access to the SmartFutures resources for the 2023-2024 school year at a total cost of $3,000. SmartFutures will be used to help track a student’s certifications, soft skills, and the goals and needs of the student to achieve their class requirements.
All of the area school districts are currently using SmartFutures.
