Annual Ukrainian Festival set for this weekend

The annual Ukrainian Festival is Saturday and Sunday at the Ukrainian Homestead of CEC, 1230 Beaver Run Drive, Lehighton.

This year’s festival marks the 32nd anniversary of Ukrainian Independence.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

Gates open at noon both days with shows on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. There will be an array of ethnic and American foods, refreshments and desserts. There will also be more than 20 vendors selling embroidery, decorated eggs, jewelry, soaps, art and religious items from over twenty vendors.

Dance performers include the Kalyna Performing Arts Company from Toronto, Ontario, Canada and local favorites, the Kazka Ukrainian Folk Ensemble. Musical performers include the Lehki Family Orchestra, Innesa Tymochko-Dekajlo on violin and Rev. Volodymyr Baran on accordion. Walt Syzonenko will play at 8 p.m. Saturday. Sunday begins with Divine Liturgy celebrated by at 11 a.m. in St. Andrew’s Chapel.

Admission is $10 per day with free admission for kids 14 and under and free parking.
