The long-awaited opening of the model train scale display at the Railroad Museum in Jim Thorpe is planned by the end of the month.

The historic railroad station is an ideal setting for the exhibit, which was donated to the Carbon County Tourist Promotion Agency by the Rev. Joseph Kean, pastor of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Lehighton, from his private collection.

The spectacular display will feature five levels, with 37 trains running simultaneously, 184 engines and 1,000 cars on display. A special sound system is expected to garner national attention.

Work on the project has been under Father Kean’s guidance since April.
