The regular meeting of the Monroe County Prison Board of Inspectors was held Tuesday.
Commissioner John Moyer asked if everyone had read the last month’s meeting minutes and then they were approved.
• Moyer asked Warden Garry Haidle how the census was during the month of July, and the warden said the numbers have been around the 310 to 330 mark, but said, “We have a run down to the prison coming up, so that will help.”
• Deputy Warden of Operations, Phil Diliberto, reported the protective shields for the officers to put under their uniform shirt will boost the protection even though they do wear Kevlar vests.
•The director of treatment, Lea Baylor, spoke about the large number of chronically ill inmates at a facility of this size. She also talked about the need for more juvenile facilities and programs.
• Haidle said the roof repairs are moving right along.
