The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for the Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe and Northampton counties.
The watch is in effect through 11 p.m.
This afternoon there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 5 p.m. Some of the storms could be severe. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. South wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Tonight, showers and thunderstorms are expected, mainly before midnight. Some storms could be severe, with large hail, damaging winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning. Patchy fog after 1 a.m. Low around 65. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Several instances of flooding are possible, especially in urban and poor-drainage areas and near vulnerable small creeks and streams.
Numerous severe thunderstorms are expected.
Tuesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 4 p.m. Patchy fog before 9 a.m. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 76. West wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 61. West wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 81. West wind 10 to 15 mph.
Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 60.
