A Weatherly man was killed Sunday afternoon in a motorcycle crash.

State police at Hazleton said John A. Cherba, 45, was killed when his 2006 Harley Davidson went off the road and struck a tree along Wetzel Run Road in Packer Township.

It happened at 2:02 p.m. about a half mile north of Quakake Road.

A helicopter was requested to the scene but Cherba was transported by Lehighton EMS to the Lehigh Valley Hospital in Hazleton, where he died.

Weatherly Fire Department personnel assisted at the scene, with their fire police shutting down the road.

State police at Hazleton are investigating.
