A motorcyclist was seriously injured Sunday afternoon in a crash along Wetzel Run Road in Packer Township. The incident occurred around 2 p.m. about a half mile north of Quakake Road.

The biker struck a tree.

An air medical helicopter was requested to the scene but the victim soon went into traumatic cardiac arrest and was transported by ground to the Lehigh Valley Hospital in Hazleton.

Weatherly Fire Department personnel are on scene assisting with their fire police conducting traffic control at the scene shutting down the roadway.

State police at Hazleton are investigating the incident.
