Calvary Lewistown
Pastor Kimberly Leskowich will present Children’s Moments along with a message from God’s word followed by Holy Communion at the 10:30 a.m. worship service at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. weekly prayer and share 7 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 9.
Following the morning service with be the annual Sunday school all day picnic with food, fellowship, fun, games and a hot dog roast with Vesper service around 5:15 p.m. For information and registration for food items (covered dish) call 570-668-3359 and ask for Sue.
Summer Celebration
Tamaqua Area Faith Fellowship Network and the Tamaqua Ministerial Association are hosting a community “Summer Celebration” Sunday, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ on Lafayette Street, Tamaqua. Once again, the evening of music, message and fellowship features the Blue Mountain Community Church Praise Band led by Pastor Jennifer Eckhart.
Members of the Tamaqua Ministerial Association will deliver short messages between praise sets. Messages will be delivered by Rev. Rick Clemson, Primitive Methodist Church; Rev. Cindy White, Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church; and Rev. Debra Forney, First United Methodist Church. Other Tamaqua pastors will also participate in the service. In the past, the evening closes with a fellowship time. A freewill offering will be taken. All are welcome.
Thrift Sale
Blessings, Zion Lutheran’s thrift ministry, is hosting a one-day summer/back-to-school sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today. The sale features gently used summer clothing and school uniforms along with general household items, books and toys. A limited takeout kitchen menu is available. Major credit cards and cash are accepted. (No checks)
Zion Lutheran is located at the corner of Mauch Chunk and Greenwood streets in Tamaqua.
Food Pantry
American Primitive Methodist Church working in partnership with the Salvation Army will distribute food twice a month. The second Wednesday of each month from 2 to 5 p.m. and the third Wednesday from 10 a.m.-noon and 4 to 5:30 p.m.
