W. Penn Township man hit, killed by triaxle

A West Penn Township man was killed by a triaxle Wednesday night and the driver is in custody.

At approximately 6 p.m. Wednesday West Penn police were dispatched to Mark T. Boyle Welding & Industrial Sandblasting, 725 Penn Drive, West Penn Township.

Police determined the owner Mark T. Boyle was intentionally hit by a triaxle truck. Boyle, 35, was pronounced dead at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest Campus.

The driver, Michael Albert, 60, of Scranton, was taken into custody and charged with murder in the 3rd degree, aggravated assault, homicide by vehicle, recklessly endangering another person and theft of services.

Albert was arraigned by District Justice Edward Tarentelli and committed to the Schuylkill County Prison, being held without bail.

A Preliminary Hearing is tentatively scheduled for Aug. 15, at 10 a.m. at District

Justice Andrew J. Serina.

The victim was treated at the scene by members of the Penn Mahoning ambulance and Lehighton paramedics. A Medevac helicopter responded to the scene.

The West Penn fire company responded setting up a landing zone as fire police maintained traffic control at the scene.
