Summit Hill Police Report

Chief of Police Todd Woodward of the Summit Hill Police Department issued his monthly report from the period of June 12 to July 13.

He said the department made six criminal arrests and issued 15 traffic citations.

In addition, the following were issued: 16 non-traffic citations; 20 traffic warnings; 21 parking tickets; 20 quality-of-life tickets; four quality-of-life warnings.

Chief Woodward said 420 total calls were handled during the period.

Mayor Jeffrey Szczecina said that all calls are taken seriously, but sometimes a strain is put on officers for calls that might not be important.

As an example, he said one person made three different calls to the police, resulting in response at three different times by three different officers, with the complaint that a neighbor’s dryer vent was pointed in the direction of his residence.

Nothing illegal was found, the mayor said.

Szczecina said there were six fireworks complaints during the period.

In response to a question from the council, it was noted that fireworks cannot be set off seven days before or after a federal holiday except for New Year’s.
