Musikfest starts Friday
Musikfest, the annual early August celebration of music, art and food of the Lehigh Valley kicks into high gear at 6 p.m. Friday and runs through Aug. 14 in Bethlehem.
Parking can be a premium during the event, especially on the weekends, so consider taking one of the free shuttles offered.

Special story event: Sunday, Aug. 6. Storytime with Historic Bethlehem at the Springhouse, Colonial Industrial Quarter under the bridge and behind Hotel Bethlehem. Stories, crafts and fun. No registration needed. Noon to 1 p.m.
Sensory Supportive Inclusion Zone at Familienplatz. Open during festival hours. Southside: SteelStacks playground. Open noon to 8 p.m. both Saturdays and Sundays of the festival.
The zone provides services, tools and amenities for those with sensory-processing difficulties of all ages and abilities. Hours are noon to 8 p.m. Aug. 13 and 14 at the SteelStacks playground.
Credit cards: Musikfest accepts credit/debit cards at official food and beverage vendors throughout the Historic Moravian District festival grounds. Beverage stations include Coca-Cola booths, beer trucks and festival bars serving mixed drinks.
Cash may be converted into recyclable and reloadable CashCards at several festival locations. The cards are usable during the 10 festival days only on festival grounds. Cash will still be accepted on the SteelStacks campus, Southside Arts District.
Kids’ Activities: Experience play silks, puppet making, ribbon painting and early dying techniques. Contribute to the community silk weaving project, Unspun: Stories of Silk. Activities range in cost per activity or purchase an all-activity pass. Noon to 1 p.m. Monday -Thursday; noon to 6 p.m. Friday to Sunday. Springhouse, Colonial Industrial Quarter.
